Most believers spend their lives asking this question. God already answered it — plainly, directly, in John 6:40. Here is what He declared.

Most believers spend their entire lives asking God what His will is for their life.
The most important thing I can tell you about that search — is that He already answered it.
Not vaguely. Not in a whisper you have to strain to hear. Plainly. Directly. In words you can read right now.
John 6:40 — "For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life."
That is God's will. Declared. Not hidden. Not reserved for the spiritually mature. Declared — over everyone who looks and believes. Including you.
THE FOUR PHRASES THAT CHANGE EVERYTHING
Phrase 1: "My Father's WILL"
The Greek word is thelema — from thelō, meaning to will with intentionality and purpose. This is not a preference. Not a suggestion. This is a declared, sovereign, irrevocable intention from the God who spoke the universe into existence. God's will for you was declared before you were born and has not changed based on anything you have done or failed to do since.
Phrase 2: "EVERYONE Who Looks"
The Greek word is pas — each, every, without exception. Jesus closes the door on every "except me" thought you have ever had with one word. Pas. Everyone. Including you. You are not the exception to God's declaration of the wonderful life.
Phrase 3: "LOOKS to the Son" (Theoreo)
This word does not mean a glance. It means a sustained, attentive, continuous gaze — the way you look at someone you love deeply when they are speaking. The daily practice most directly aligned with God's will is not a religious checklist. It is this sustained looking — fixing your eyes on Jesus before anything else claims your attention each morning.
Phrase 4: "SHALL HAVE Eternal Life" (ZOE)
The word for life here is ZOE — not the biological life everyone has simply by breathing. ZOE is the quality of existence that belongs to God Himself. Abundant. Purposeful. Whole. This is the wonderful life Jesus came to give you. And He declared it as God's will — right now, not someday, in the body you are in, in the season you are navigating.
THE THREE COMMON MISTAKES
Mistake 1: Looking for a specific answer when God gave a foundational declaration
Most people searching for God's will are looking for a specific answer — a career, a city, a relationship. God gave them a foundational declaration that governs every specific question. Start with the declaration.
Mistake 2: Treating God's will as selective
ZOE does not flourish in your prayer life while leaving your financial anxiety untouched. God's declared will is a whole-life declaration. It requires whole-life attention — across identity, prayer, habits, family, finances, and calling.
Mistake 3: Waiting for more clarity before walking in what has already been declared
The gap between what God declared and how most believers are living is not evidence that God changed His mind. It is simply the distance between knowing what He said and knowing how to walk in it. And that distance is closeable — one faithful step at a time.
